Azerbaijan, Baku, June 17 / Trend, H. Valiyev /

The Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences' (ANAS) Institute of Information Technologies (IIT) can eventually deploy the "cloud computing" service to the commercial sector, IIT Senior Engineer Rashid Alakbarov told Trend.

Alakbarov said the "cloud computing" services will initially be made available to institutions and affiliates of the Academy of Sciences, free of charge.

"If in the future we will manage to deploy these services on a mass level, then the possibility of considering commercialization is not ruled out. The cost of the "cloud computing" services is not high," Alakbarov said.

In general, according to Alakbarov the "cloud computing" system envisages 11 services. The services in highest demand are SaaS (software-as-a-service), PaaS (Platform-as-a-service) and IaaS (Infrastructure- as-a-Service).

The Institute initially plans to render mainly the IaaS service, which provides standardized of IT-resources and functional opportunities through secured Internet connection. The service is oriented toward all companies.

This service enables quick access though a portal to an individually configured server and data storage system located in a data processing center.
