A global provider of equipment and solutions for telecommunication services - Nokia Siemens Networks - will organize the first workshop on LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology in Baku next week, Ukrainian company O2 Public Relations told Trend on Saturday.

The LTE workshop is the first of its kind, designed to help Azerbaijani telecom operators to determine the major factors for transition to this technology.

The workshop will emphasize business planning, strategy of migration and mobile networks evolution on LTE, HSPA / HSPA + and above, and wireless traffic management using the service quality mechanisms (QoS).

Nokia Siemens Networks representatives will speak about the operators' working model on developing LTE networks, concepts and key business factors in the transition to LTE networks.

LTE technology holds the key direction in the evolution of mobile networks of the third generation (3G) and is capable of providing data transmission up to 150 Mbps / s, which is 10 times more than the data transfer rate of 3G-networks of the UMTS standard and several hundred times faster than GPRS / EDGE technology. The 4G network based on an LTE standard is capable of operating at frequencies from 700 MHz to 2.7 GHz.

As expected, LTE technology will lead to the arrival of qualitative new mobile services. Users will be able to receive high quality video in real-time, working with interactive services.
Today, prospects of LTE standard are already evident and the market focuses on this direction. Azerbaijani mobile operators are interested in introducing LTE. In particular, Azerbaijan mobile operator Azercell Telecom voiced its willingness for commercial deployment of a 4G network in late 2010.
