Turkmen Supreme Control Chamber inspects mobile operator
Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, June 20 / Trend, H. Hasanov /
The inspection into the Altyn Asyr mobile operator was discussed at the last governmental meeting in Turkmenistan.
The report was prepared by the country's Supreme Control Chamber, which conducted the inspection upon President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov's instructions.
At the meeting, Berdimuhammadov stressed that "one of the main requirements in this direction is improving the quality of public services rendered to population in all spheres."
In late March, Berdimuhamedov stressed at a governmental meeting that the poor organization of the mobile operator's work resulted in low efficiency.
The number of customers exceeded 2.4 million after MTS ceased its activity in Turkmenistan in December 2010. Altyn Asyr became a monopolist on the market. It operates the Turkmentelecom state-owned enterprise. The number of subscribers is about 500,000 people.
Berdimuhamedov recently ordered to transfer mobile services to private companies, as well as to privatize Altyn Asyr.
