China is ready to implement the modernization of communications and telecommunications systems in Turkmenistan, the Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Space Technology Liu Fang said during talks in Ashgabat, the country's media reported on Tuesday.

"The Chinese Government attaches great importance to further developing multi-faceted and long-term Turkmen-Chinese cooperation", Fang was quoted as saying by the Neytralniy Turkmenistan newspaper. He also expressed "China's interest in participating in national projects for the modernization of communications and telecommunications, as well as in science and education. "

Turkmenistan made a decision on comprehensive innovation of advanced science and technology. Recently, it was decided that a National Space Agency ought to be established under the President, which would allow the country to move into space with its first national artificial satellite.

The presence of our own national satellite should accelerate the development of the country's communication, Internet, and television systems, contribute to the implementation of ecological programs, improve methods of new field explorations, and successfully implementing state programs.

A tech-park will be established in the Bikrova village near Ashgabat for innovative scientific research in important fields. The tech-park will offer facilities for research in the active use of alternative energy sources (sun, wind) and the assimilation of nanotechnologies. The tech-park is designed to enhance innovation and is partially reminiscent of the academic towns of old in the former USSR.

Fang said that "the Academy is ready to provide Turkmen partners with all available substantial experiences in the field of innovative technologies, and assist with training."

The Chinese delegation will hold a series of meetings at the Communications Ministry and the Sciences Academy.
