Uzbekistan cuts tariffs for Internet services

Uzbekistan's national telecommunications operator Uzbektelecom reported that it reduced the tariff for Internet services (external link) for service providers.

The Internet Service cost (external link) for providers reduced to $ 573 per 1 Mbit / s from Nov.2 compared to $849 in early 2011.

The company clarified that the current tariff reduction is the sixth in 2011: the figure was reduced from $849 for 1Mbit / s to $755 in February, $705 - early July, $688 - July 12, $665 -Aug.15 and $ 632 - Sept. 20 and now $573.

Thus, the tariffs were reduced by 48.2 percent in 2011, the company reported.

Uzbektelecom is the dominant operator in providing local and international fixed line services in the country with a share of 98 percent and 96 percent, respectively.
