The Launching of an Electronic Government portal in Azerbaijan is expected to take place in March 2012, a Ministry of Communications and Information Technology source told Trend on Wednesday.
It is expected that the total number of electronic services provided by the departments of the republic would be 300.
Currently 10 ministries and departments are connected to the portal which will be a key tool for supporting work with the population, state and private sector enterprises.
In the creation of an Electronic Government, the principle of X-Road was used, which aims to link existing government agencies' data bases and systems which had been set up on different platforms.
Launching the portal will reduce the number of documents requested by the public due to the fact that different bodies will cooperate with each other electronically.
