Azercell appeals to Azerbaijani Communication Ministry to provide 4G services

Azerbaijani mobile operator - Azercell - appealed to the Communications and IT Ministry with a proposal to introduce the fourth generation (4G) services, TeliaSonera Eurasia Vice President and General Director Halim Ates told journalists on Wednesday.

Azerbaijani mobile operator - Azercell - appealed to the Communications and IT Ministry with a proposal to introduce the fourth generation (4G) services, TeliaSonera Eurasia Vice President and General Director Halim Ates told journalists on Wednesday.

Ates said introducing 4G standard will enable to carry out more efficient tariff policy and reduce cost of data services.

Number of users of 3G-services in Azercell network has already reached 200,000, he said.
Previously, mobile operator Bakcell appealed to the ministry to introduce 4G.

In early November the ministry issued a license to provide 3G services to Azercell and Bakcell. Prior to them, Azerfon has already received a license to provide 3G services.
Also, all three mobile operators were recommended to submit proposals for introducing the new generation of mobile communications - 4G (LTE).

Teliasonera is one of the shareholders of Azercell.
