ICT sector incomes in Azerbaijan’s non-oil GDP reach 3.7 percent

Incomes from the ICT sector and postal services increased by 13 percent last year compared to the year before to 1.314.9 billion manat, the Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry's report for 2011 said on Saturday.

The growth rate in the ICT sector totaled 12.8 percent, the telecommunications sector - 9.8 percent, postal sector - 29.2 percent, IT sector - 1.4 times, while postal sector - 5 percent.

Some 75.3 percent of the incomes from the ICT sector and postal services accounted for non-state enterprises. Some 66.8 percent of the total incomes from the sector accounted for the mobile communications market, with a growth of 3.6 percent compared to 2010.

The incomes of the ICT sector and postal services in Azerbaijan's GDP in 2011 hit 1.8 percent. According to the ministry, incomes in the non-oil GDP hit 3.7 percent.

The official exchange rate is 0.7862 manat to $1 on Jan.21.
