Kazakhtelecom ups revenues from rendered services

Kazakh telecommunications company Kazakhtelecom increased revenues from rendered services to 91.200 billion Kazakh tenges (152.76 tenge is equal to $1) in the first half of 2013

Kazakh telecommunications company Kazakhtelecom increased revenues from rendered services to 91.200 billion Kazakh tenges (152.76 tenge is equal to $1) in the first half of 2013, the company reported on Thursday. The revenues from services in same period of 2012 hit 85.968 billion tenges.

Company's net profit in the reporting period reached 10.635 billion tenges.

Kazakhtelecom's net profit in January - June 2012 hit 215.410 billion tenges due to selling 49 percent stake in GSM Kazakhstan that renders mobile communication services in Kazakhstan under such trademarks as Kcell, Activ, Vegaline in this period. Kazakhtelecom sold its share in this company to European holding company TeliaSonera. The deal was worth $1.519 billion.

In the first six months of 2013 Kazakhtelecom increased number of fixed telephone lines to 4,072,447, including 2,914,021 in urban areas and 1,158,426 in rural areas.

The density of fixed telephones within the country increased by 0.15 and hit 24.42 numbers per 100 inhabitants at the end of June.

The number of Internet services users of Kazakhtelecom amounted to 3,454,592 people, including 3,405,392 users of broadband Internet.

Kazakhtelecom is the national telecommunication operator and the largest telecommunication company in Kazakhstan.

The company has branches in all regions of Kazakhstan. Kazakhtelecom's main shareholder is the state via Kazakh Sovereign Wealth Fund Samruk Kazyna.
