Vahid Mursaliyev is the first Azerbaijani to be appointed the CEO of Azercell Telecom LLC.
Mursaliyev has been acting CEO of Azercell since January 2015, in addition to his main duties of Director of Legal Affairs and Contract Management Department.
"Mursaliyev has demonstrated strong commitment to the company during his tenure as acting CEO, and it is exciting that Azercell, for the first time in its history, will have an Azerbaijani CEO. I wish him all the best in his new capacity", said Emil Nilsson, Head of Region Eurasia at TeliaSonera.
Vahid Mursaliyev joined Azercell in 2005. During 10 years, he worked in a number of top managerial positions, including General Counsellor to CEO and Director of Legal Affairs and General Administration Department.
Mursaliyev holds a certification in Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University, USA, where in 2000-2001 he conducted scientific research on Corporate Management.
At the same time, he is a member of International Bar Association and Dr. of International Eco Energy Academy. He graduated from the faculty of Law from Azerbaijan (currently Baku) State University.
Azercell Telecom LLC was founded in 1996 and since the first years sustains a leading position on the market. Azercell introduced number of technological innovations in Azerbaijan: GSM technology, advance payment mobile services, GPRS/EDGE, 24/7 Customer Care,M2M,MobilBank, full-time operating Azercell Express offices, mobile e-service "ASAN imza" (ASAN signature) and others. With 48.12 percent share of Azerbaijan's mobile market Azercell's network covers 99.8 percent of the country's population. Currently, the number of Azercell's subscribers reached 4.5 million people.
In 2011 Azercell deployed 3G and in 2012 the fourth generation network - LTE in Azerbaijan. The company is the leader of Azerbaijan's mobile communication industry and the biggest investor in the non-oil sector. Azercell is a part of TeliaSonera Group of Companies serving 186 million subscribers in 17 countries worldwide with 27,000 employees.
