Launch of the microlending service by Azerbaijan’s postal operator Azerpost LLC has been removed from the agenda, a postal services source told Trend.

There are certain nuances, according to which this service cannot be launched by Azerpost, according to the source.

“According to available data, issuance of loans by the postal operator is currently not a subject of debate.”

It was earlier reported that Azerpost was preparing to get permission for issuing loans. For this, the World Bank (WB) suggested allocating a loan worth $20 million for a period of 20 years.

However, the state guarantee was needed for attracting the WB loan and therefore, this issue had to be solved at the government level.

Azerpost LLC started providing financial services in April 2012 in line with a license of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.
