The cooperation of countries in combating cybercrime at the global level is of great importance for obtaining effective results in this field, said Mursal Veliyev, deputy head of the Special State Protection Service of Azerbaijan and head of the Special Information and Communication Security Agency.

He made the remarks addressing the annual conference of the Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation – Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT) in Baku Nov. 7.

Veliyev said that the exchange of experience between the relevant services responsible for ensuring information security is of particular importance.

“The event, organized in Baku, will contribute to strengthening the fight against cybercrime. Global trends in this area will be discussed and practical trainings will be organized. Azerbaijan contributes to strengthening the role of OIC-CERT and will continue cooperation in this field,” he added.

The OIC-CERT annual conference is a continuous initiative by the OIC-CERT to enhance cyber security and raising awareness through international cooperation among the members and other information security organizations.

This event also offers possible partnerships and collaboration pertaining to cyber security in order to maintain resiliency in the cyber space.

It also provides an information sharing platform on cyber security issues, enhancement of members’ effectiveness and efficiency through the improvement of the technical and administrative capabilities in incident handling, and a channel to discuss strategic directions and future challenges.
