By Huseyn Valiyev – Trend:

Azerbaijan’s satellite operator Azercosmos OJSC will launch an online store of imagery received from the country’s low-Earth-orbit AzerSky satellite until the end of the year, a source in Azerbaijan’s satellite communications market told Trend.

The satellite imagery will be available for purchase at http://azercosmos.az/en/azerskystore

Currently, over 90 percent of Azercosmos revenues obtained from the commercial exploitation of the resources of the low-Earth-orbit AzerSky satellite account for foreign customers. In the domestic market, the resources of the AzerSky satellite are used by Azerbaijani ministries and state agencies.

According to the government’s earlier forecasts, revenues from services of the AzerSky satellite will exceed $200 million over the next 12 years.

The AzerSky satellite was transferred to Azerbaijan based on an agreement signed Dec. 2, 2014 between the Azercosmos OJSC and the French company Airbus Defence and Space.
