The issue of organizing the production of fiber optic cables in Sumgait Technologies Park (STP) together with companies from Japan and China can be intensified again in 2018, the STP press service told Trend.
This issue was raised for the first time in 2016; however, due to changes in the STP management, it was temporarily frozen.
Negotiations with Japanese and Chinese companies were carried out earlier, and they expressed their readiness to cooperate with STP by organizing joint production with the prospect of exporting the final product to foreign markets.
Optical fiber used by the STP in the production of cables is a product of leading companies in the US and Japan, and meets international standards.
The STP launched the production of optical fiber in late 2015. The production capacity of STP is estimated at 100,000 kilometers of optical cable per year, but if necessary, the capacity can be increased.
Cable products produced by the STP fully meet the country’s domestic needs, and are partially exported to foreign markets. In particular, the products were exported to Georgia.
