First domestic carrier rocket to be manufactured in Turkey

First domestic carrier rocket will be created in Turkey, the country’s Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications told Trend Dec. 4.
The work to create the carrier rocket, which will be called “BURAK”, will start in 2018, according to the ministry.
“The project to create the carrier rocket “BURAK” is being implemented as part of the Turkish government’s “Vision 2023” plan," the ministry said.
The ministry didn’t disclose the cost of the project.
In recent years, Turkey has been actively developing space industry.
Currently, the Turksat-6A satellite is being developed in Turkey, and the satellite has been completed by 40 percent.
The Turksat-6A satellite will be assembled using domestic components and it is planned to be used for telecommunication purposes.
The first Turkish reconnaissance satellite RASAT was launched in 2011. Turkey launched the Gokturk-2 satellite from the Chinese Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center on December 18, 2012. Currently, the satellite is used for defense purposes.
