Azerbaijan’s Azexport e-commerce platform has offered Azerpoct LLC, the country’s postal operator, to create independent distribution centers operating as warehouses in the logistics system, Zaur Gardashov, head of Azexport portal, told Trend.
“Presently, there are countries where small items are shipped to most of all,” Gardashov said. “In the distribution centers, one may store a certain number of small items, which are in great demand. So, when an order is received, a consumer will not have to wait for the delivery for several weeks.”
Azerpoct LLC has chances to become a major international carrier like FedEx, DHL, Aramex and other companies.
“The Azerbaijani state intends to invest in the establishment of a company of transnational level, and the Azerpoct LLC can become such a company,” Gardashov said. “However, the Azerpoct LLC needs effective management in order to reach international level. For now, the postal operator only delivers items to customers in Azerbaijan. We are interested that the delivery is carried out regardless of the direction, as well as by transit through Azerbaijan to third countries.”
