Baku communication operator works on planning the LTE network.

State communication operator “Baku Telephony Communication” LTD works on planning the LTE network (Long Term Evolution) to cover new apartment houses of Baku suburban settlements with fixed telecommunication services, a source in telecommunication sector told Trend.

As a source said, limited part of equipment for developing LTE network is bought and network is currently working in a pilot mode in a number of suburban settlements of the capital.

“Five base stations which are mainly installed near coastal settlements had been bought by the operator. Recently a contract on purchase of next party of equipment was signed and it is planned to substantially enlarge cover area of LTE network and increase the number of connections by the end of the year. Preliminary apartment houses of Baku suburban settlements of Atchylyg, Sudchulyuk, Zeytunlug, Yeni Ramani and etc. will be covered with LTE network ,” said the source.

Users will be freely provided with LTE/Ethernet routers with external antennas for connection on basis of contract. By the means of fixed network LTE operator will provide both traditional telephony service and data transmission. As the source said tariffs will not substantially differ from current fees.
