Azerbaijani wireless operator may close down

Azerbaijan's CDMA wireless communications operator Aztrank may already terminate its operation this year, the company told Trend.

According to the company representative, the final decision on this issue can be made by the shareholders of the company.

“The current year may be decisive for the company. It is possible that the company shuts down this year. This is a possibility, but the final decision will be made by the company shareholders”, the source said.

At present, Aztrank provides services of wireless communication based on the CDMA standard with the index of 437. The network of the operator covers the cities of Baku, Sumqayit and Absheron Peninsula and according to the company data, it serves around 500 subscribers. During the last two years, the number of subscribers of the company has shrank by roughly four times.
