Specialists from the US have installed four new seismic stations in Azerbaijan, the National Seismological Service Center at the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) told Trend on May 2.
The stations have been installed within the framework of a project on study of large depths, study of the seismotectonic features of the Greater Caucasus region, including defining of earthquake foci.
"The stations are located from the Ismayilli district to the Khachmaz district. The stations are already operating and working in the regular mode. In general, the project stipulates installation of 14 stations. The work on the installation of new stations will begin within the next month," the source said.
The project on study of large depths, study of the seismotectonic features of the Greater Caucasus region will be realized until 2020. Scientists from Georgia and the USA take part in the project.
