Uzbekistan is preparing legislative framework for implementation of the phone number portability service, according to the decree “On measures for the accelerated development of e-commerce” signed by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on May 14.
The head of state instructed the Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies to develop and adopt a procedure on saving mobile subscriber’s phone number when switching to another mobile operator by late 2018. The procedure is aimed at ensuring effective functioning of remote identification mechanism of a customer, according to his/her mobile phone number.
Mobile number portability (MNP) service allows completely saving a phone number, including the prefix, after changing the mobile network provider.
