Baku, Azerbaijan, June 27
By Huseyn Veliyev - Trend:
The issue of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology is very important, and its regulation requires the intervention of a number of state institutions, a source in the government told Trend.
The source told Trend that the role of not only sectoral ministries, but also the Central Bank and the Financial Market Supervisory Authority of Azerbaijan is important in this matter.
"The blockchain is a high technology. Today, a lot of attention is paid to this issue and these processes, first of all, take place around the High-Tech Park. We want to attract our specialists. Blockchain technology is quite new. The personnel policy is very important, because if we introduce these technologies, we must think about the wish that Azerbaijan could implement projects independently in the future. Because if we start a project and at the same time get dependent on foreign experts, the full independence will be out of the question," the source said.
The source said the Hi-Tech Park pays a lot of attention to this process, attracts young people to engage in projects related to blockchain, and conducts various kinds of events periodically.
"Today, a community of experts who are interested in blockchain is being formed. From an economic point of view, we have a lot of young companies, startups that are trying to build their activities around the blockchain. However, first of all they are guided by cryptocurrencies. Perhaps it is fashionable today, however, it is necessary to be more careful with cryptocurrencies. As for the legal regulation of this industry, the state can be the initiator of adoption of a number of documents. Again, if the issue concerns cryptocurrencies, this issue is very serious, and it requires joint discussion and analysis by various government institutions. Only a common opinion on this issue can form a vision. Because here we are talking not only about the financial viability of the project, but also about security, which is a priority side of this issue," the source said.
