Azerbaijani satellite operator triples revenues from export of satellite services

The export volume of services of Azercosmos OJSC, the national satellite operator of Azerbaijan, in April-June 2018 amounted to $9.3 million, which is 2.7 times more than in January-March, reads the "Export Review", published by the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications of Azerbaijan.

In January-June 2018, the company earned $12.7 million, including $1.6 million in June 2018. Azercosmos supplied services to 14 countries for the month.

According to the data, Azercosmos OJSC's income from the export of the services accounted for 88 percent of the total revenue of the operator in January-June 2018.

Azercosmos OJSC rendered services to 19 countries, including France, Malaysia, the UAE, Germany, Georgia, China, Egypt, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, UK, Russia, Cyprus, South Africa, Ukraine, Tanzania, Lebanon, Tajikistan, Poland and Iran.

Among the biggest buyers of Azerbaijan’s satellite and telecommunications services were France ($5.7 million), Malaysia ($4.2 million), the United Arab Emirates ($740,000), Germany ($476,000), Georgia ($292,000).

In 2017, the revenues of Azercosmos from the export of these services amounted to $23 million.

Azercosmos OJSC operates geostationary satellite Azerspace-1 and low-altitude satellite Azersky. The company plans to launch the second Azerspace-2 satellite in September 2018.
