By Huseyn Valiyev - Trend:

Azerbaijani startup company BrailleX has raised $200,000 to manufacture Braille Watch for the visually impaired, Sayad Ibrahimov, head of the company, told Trend.

He said the funds will be invested by a business angel (an independent individual who provides capital for the development of a business) and the negotiation process is expected to be completed by the end of September.

“This amount will be enough for implementation of the first stage of the project,” Ibrahimov said. “The device is planned to be commissioned after the final version is approved. The preparation of Braille Watch will take about one year for specialists. No special changes are expected regarding its functionality, and some changes will be made to its design.”

The device will have such functions as notification about obstructions along the way that will allow the visually impaired to get rid of the walking stick, the GPS SOS function, which will allow the owner of the watch to seek help from relatives in case of emergency situations by telling them location.

Moreover, it will be possible to charge the device wirelessly. The gadget will operate for 48 hours without charging. It will be possible to connect the Braille Watch to iOS and Android devices.
