By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

European aerospace corporation Airbus would like to become part of the Azerbaijan’s space industry, Airbus Vice-President for Eurasia Silvere Delaunay told Trend.

"Airbus has developed important relationships with AZERICOSMOS. Airbus would like to become part of the Azerbaijan’s space industry as a long term partner for the future by supporting space projects such as telecommunication satellites and intelligence satellite projects," he said.

Delaunay pointed out that as a complement to satellite intelligence, the usage of C295 aircraft in patrol or surveillance configuration versions may enable for example a complete surveillance solution, emergency, fighting against sea pollution.

He noted that Airbus is focused on long-term strategic partnerships and on creating sustainable value in the Azerbaijan aerospace sector.

"Airbus has partnered the Azerbaijan civil and military aerospace sector for more than 10 years. Airbus has been an important solution partner for Azerbaijan working closely especially with AZAL and AZERCOSMOS," said Delaunay.

The company’s vice-president for Eurasia pointed out that Airbus’ global market forecast predicts that over the next 20 years the passengers traffic to, from and the region will more than double.

"Airbus is extremely well positioned to meet this demand with our eco-efficient, modern family of aircraft, and Azerbaijani aerospace companies are well positioned to benefit from this growth through long-term industrial partnerships with Airbus," he said.

Delaunay noted that today, eleven Airbus aircraft (two A340-500s, three A319s and six A320s) fly with the National flag carrier AZAL.

A mid-size cargo aircraft like A330F might be the right solution bringing operational flexibility and resulting in significant cost savings, he added.

The vice-president said Airbus is committed to the Azerbaijani market.

"Airbus is ready and willing to partner with Azerbaijan on all projects where Airbus excels and offers top-notch technologies. They include Commercial and Military aviation, Space, or Helicopters," he said.

Airbus SE is a European aerospace corporation, registered in the Netherlands and trading shares in France, Germany and Spain. It designs, manufactures and sells civil and military aerospace products worldwide and manufactures in multiple countries both inside and outside of the European Union.
