Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation (ROSATOM) is ready to provide the necessary assistance if Azerbaijan decides to build a nuclear power plant, Chairman of the Nuclear Research Center Adil Garibov told Trend on Nov. 23.
Garibov noted that decision on a nuclear power plant construction can be made at the level of higher authorities and the head of state.
"So far, there are no specific proposals on this topic. Everything is at the level of discussions. Accordingly, if such a decision is made, it is possible that ROSATOM will take part in it," Garibov said.
He added that Russia is a friend of Azerbaijan and relations between the two states are at a high level.
"Presently, for example, ROSATOM provides the support we need in developing human resources. Six employees of our center are being trained at the Institute of Engineering Physics [in Russia] with ROSATOM's support," said Garibov.
