The funds worth 1.6 trillion rials (about $38 million) by Iranian companies, as well as four signed agreements created conditions for the first time to use modern technologies in the aviation and aerospace industries, said Rahmatollah Mahabadi, chairman of the Board & CEO of Iran Airports & Air Navigation Company (IAC).

He noted that until the past two years Iran’s aeronautical industry systems were in difficult situation due to strong sanctions, Trend reported citing IRNA.

Most of Iran’s aviation and aerospace systems were outdated, but Iranian experts didn’t allow the industry to collapse, he said.

With the signing of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), opportunity emerged for Iran to purchase airway equipment worth 10 trillion rials (about $238 million), and major changes took place in that area, Mahabadi added.

“With the purchase of modern and strategic planes for flight inspection and surveillance, six radars and hundreds of transmission systems, we are witnessing the development of Iran’s airports,” he said.

He added that the signing of four contracts worth a total of 1.6 trillion rials in order to set up a mobile air traffic control tower in five locations in Iran has made it possible to utilize local capacities. This project may further enhance the nationalization of new technologies in the aviation and aerospace industries, he said.

A 3D flight control simulator has been produced for the first time in Iran and will soon be launched, he noted.

At this event, Iranian knowledge companies, Iran’s Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research, Iran Airports & Air Navigation Company and the Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology of the Presidency of Iran signed four contracts on the design and production of mobile air traffic control tower, radar and air traffic control systems that meet non-military aeronautical industry standards.
