The Azerbaijani national communications operator Aztelekom LLC and the Belarusian Republican Unitary Enterprise Beltelecom signed a memorandum of cooperation, Trend reports.

The document was signed during the 4th Azerbaijan-Belarus business forum in the field of information and communication technologies held in Baku on Dec. 5.

From the Azerbaijani side, the memorandum was signed by director general of Aztelekom Suat Pashayev, while from the Belarusian side - by deputy director general of Beltelecom Sergey Turomsha.

During the business forum, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Information and Computing Center of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies and the Institute of Applied Software Systems of the Belarusian Ministry of Communications and Informatization.

The document was signed by director of the Azerbaijani Information and Computing Center Elnar Asadov and director of the Belarusian Institute of Applied Software Systems Igor Mikhailovsky.

Moreover, the memorandum of cooperation was signed by Director General of Azerpost LLC Emin Efendiyev and Director General of the Belarusian mail service company Belpochta Vladimir Matusevich.

Elmir Valizade, deputy minister of transport, communications and high technologies of Azerbaijan, noted at the business forum that the forum takes place in the year when the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Belarus is celebrated. On this occasion, a special postage stamp was issued, he said.

“Intensive cooperation between our countries in the field of ICT contributes to the strengthening of the potential of both countries, the introduction of advanced technologies and innovations in this field,” he noted. “We have a good tradition of being represented at our exhibitions by our national pavilions. This is an indicator of our mutual relations.”

In turn, deputy head of the Belarusian delegation Sergei Zhernosek read out the welcoming speech on behalf of Minister of Communications and Informatization of Belarus Konstantin Shulgan.

As noted in the welcoming speech, the Belarusian side proposes to transfer ideas and knowledge, exchange successful experience in the use of ICT in traditional industries to further enhance cooperation in the innovation sphere between Belarus and Azerbaijan, as well as to consider the possibilities within the business program of the international ICT forum to be held in 2019 in Minsk April 8-12. The Belarus-Azerbaijan Innovation Forum will be organized as part of the ICT Forum in Minsk.
