Azerbaijani postal operator Azerpost LLC predicts a 40-percent increase in e-commerce market of Azerbaijan in 2019, Director General of Azerpost Emin Efendiyev told Tred.

He noted that this segment of the market shows constant growth, and the growth in 2018 was 33 percent.

"This year we intend to focus on the development of our agency services, which we will offer not only to banks, but also to other structures located in the coverage territory our offices. As you know, Azerpost is a large network, which consists of 1,497 offices and 63 branches, which allows us to offer agency services to everyone," Efendiyev said.

As for the overall profitability of Azerpost, then, as the director general said, this issue is considered from the prism of the entire enterprise, rather than each branch separately.

"Presently, Azerpost is a profitable organization. Despite the fact that our tariffs have not changed since 2011, we work profitably. Therefore, we provide services, including in the most remote settlements. We can not consider each branch separately on the subject of whether it is profitable or not. We consider the profitability of the Azerpost network as a whole," the director general said.

The head of Azerpost also mentioned the competitive advantages of the company in the field of courier postal services. He noted that Azerpost intends to conquer this market segment by competing with private courier services.

"Last year alone we concluded about 50 new contracts in this market. We will develop this area. Today we are updating our car park. As for our tariffs, they are much more competitive in comparison with the tariffs of private courier services," he added.
