Chinese company Huawei and the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications Development (Mininfocom) of Uzbekistan are discussing the possibility of launching a 5G network on the basis of one of the three state-owned mobile operators, Trend reports citing Podrobno.uz.

"In recent years, Huawei has invested over $ 2 billion in the development of 5G technology. The development of this technology began 10 years ago. During the visit of the President of Uzbekistan to China, we presented 5G technology to him. He suggested Huawei to consider the possibility of introducing 5G technology in Uzbekistan with one of the state operators - UMS, Uzmobile and Ucell ", the head of Huawei in Uzbekistan Liu Jiaxing said.

He stated that the Chinese company together with Mininfokom is considering the possibility of launching and further developing the network based on 5G technology with one of these operators.

“So far we have no concrete vision of this project. Work is only at the initial stage. Uzbekistan still has work to develop fourth-generation networks. Nevertheless, negotiations are underway with all three operators, and we hope that we will soon come to a consensus with one of them," he stressed.

Director of public relations and corporate communications of Huawei in Uzbekistan Davron Azizov ntoed that there is a kind of competition between the three operators who will develop 5G in Uzbekistan, but from Huawei’s side there is no priority in choosing a partner.
