Japan to support Uzbekistan in development of IT

Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan, Minoru Terada and the Minister for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan Shukhrat Sadikov held a meeting in Tokyo on Oct. 2, Trend reports citing press service of the ministry.

During the visit, a discussion of new investment projects with the participation of large Japanese companies and the expansion of cooperation took place.

"Uzbekistan is interested in enhancing comprehensive mutually beneficial and effective cooperation in the spirit of strategic partnership relations with Japan," Sadikov said.

Terada emphasized the great attention and desire of Uzbekistan to develop the field of information technology and noted that the interest of Japanese companies in the Uzbek market is growing steadily, given the factors uniting the two countries.

Then Sadikov held a meeting with the General Manager of the Japanese company Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Nobuyuki Kawabata, where an agreement was reached on the implementation of the relevant cooperation work.

The parties expressed their readiness to mobilize all efforts to develop cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan in the field of information technology.

During the meeting with the CEO of Internet Initiative Japan Koichi Suzuki, promising areas of bilateral cooperation were discussed, including the exchange of experience in ICT issues, the expansion of cooperation and other important issues.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to conduct relevant work on the exchange of experience and cooperation on the creation of data storage and processing centers in Uzbekistan.
