Azerbaijan’s Azercell subscribers to be able to get 5G SIM cards for free (Exclusive)

Beginning from December this year, Azerbaijan’s Azercell company will provide 5G mobile phones for sale in the customer service centers of the company, a source in the company told Trend, commenting on the issue of launching 5G network.

Customers of the company who already have 5G devices, or those who will buy them, will receive 5G SIM cards for free from Azercell.

Azercell will cover one of the most congested and lively central districts in Baku – the Fountains Square – with 5G in December 2019. At the presentation of 5G network in Azerbaijan, Azercell demonstrated the capabilities of 5G mobile broadband network.

During testing, the download speed exceeded one gigabyte per second. Now Azercell is also one of the few operators in the world that managed to cover an extensive testing area as part of the 5G launch.

At the test stage of the project, Azercell will provide 5G services for free and will continue comprehensive test work, including the study and testing of various innovative solutions based on 5G, up to the commercial launch of the service throughout the country.

The launch of the 5G network test zone will provide valuable information enabling the company to study, test and evaluate the most effective 5G applications for its subscribers. The further 5G network development strategy will be determined by the company based on the results of the test project and market readiness for the introduction of the 5G network.

The provider of digital solutions in Azerbaijan - Azercell Telekom, announced the launch of the first 5G network test zone in Azerbaijan on Nov. 12, 2019.
