Internet tariff in Uzbekistan significantly down

Since the beginning of 2020, the tariff on external internet channel for operators and providers has fallen by 34 percent to 56,000 soum ($6) per 1 Mbit/s compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.

The total capacity of connection to the international channels of the Internet network in 2019 was 1,200 Gbit/s.

Possibility of access to the Internet at a speed of 750 Gbit/s was created by Uzbekistan's International Packet Switching Center located in Bukhara city. Speed level of the external channel has increased to 76.6 percent.

Last year, as a result of the installation of 2,017 new mobile base stations, the coverage of mobile communications in Uzbekistan reached 96 percent, and broadband access in mobile Internet networks - 70 percent. This year, it is planned to install 2,200 new stations, mainly in remote areas.

To increase the attractiveness of service facilities, tourism, trade and catering sectors, more than 685 Internet access points through Wi-Fi networks have been installed at sightseeing places, railway stations and airports.

In 2019, services worth 10.6 trillion soum ($1.1 billion) were provided in the ICT sector, and the volume of exports amounted to $176 million.
