Uzbekistan makes significant progress in average Internet connection speed

Irish Ookla company has published the latest data on the speed of mobile and wired internet in the world for January 2020, Trend reports with the reference to the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan.

In the monthly Speedtest Global Index ranking, Uzbekistan showed good growth, rising four positions compared to December last year.

"In the overall rating, Uzbekistan ranks 104th in the world by Internet speed (plus 15 positions for the year). This is the most impressive growth during the year. In January 2020, Uzbekistan was ahead of such countries as Georgia (107th place), Tajikistan (109th place) and Turkmenistan (176th place)," the press service of the Ministry reports.

Over the past year, the Internet speed in Uzbekistan has increased almost 2.4 times - from 10.89 Mbit/s in January 2019 to 25.75 Mbit/s in January 2020.

Uzbekistan has also made good progress in improving the speed of mobile Internet. The country currently occupies 132nd place, having risen by two more positions compared to December 2019.

The Irish Ookla company is a world leader in the testing of Internet networks, applications and technologies and developer of the portal for testing the speed of the global network Speedtest.

More than 10 million user tests are conducted annually on Speedtest portal, which give a unique and comprehensive picture of network performance, quality and availability around the world. To date, more than 27.3 billion user tests have been performed on this portal.
