Turkmenistan to provide rural areas with broadband internet

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has ordered to provide the rural population of the country with broadband internet, Trend reports with reference to Business Turkmenistan information portal.

This order was given during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers that was held via a videoconference.

The president noted that providing the rural population with broadband internet will lead to development of online education, telemedicine, as well as e-commerce. Turkmen president gave instructions to actively implement the state program on digitalization of the Turkmenistan’s economy, as well as to increase the level of computer literacy of the population.

The meeting participants discussed the presidential development programs of Turkmenistan, as well as the implementation of socio-economic programs. Issues of military policy were also considered.

The head of state also instructed to monitor the work of transport companies and agencies, as well as take necessary measures due to the current difficult situation in the world.

Turkmenistan is conducting program work on digitalization of all spheres of the national economy and the introduction of scientific developments in production. Since 2019, the country has been implementing the concept of developing the digital economy in Turkmenistan until 2025, approved by the head of state.
