AzEduNet seeking to attract investments for transferring schools to optic connection

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug.11

By Nargiz Ismayilova - Trend:

Azerbaijan’s internet provider AzEduNet LLC is looking for ways to attract private investments for the project of transferring the local schools to an optic connection, the company’s Director Natiq Yahyaev told Trend.

According to Yahyayev, transfer of schools to fiber-optic connection requires very large investments.

“At the moment, our company has offered a unique business model establishing cooperation between the private and public sectors,” the director said. “Under the contract signed between the Ministry of Education and AzEduNet, we have attracted the innovative company ENGINET as a commercial partner and potential investor.”

He noted that currently, ENGINET has attracted private financial resources to connect schools to the Educational Network via optic channels for free and installs its own communication equipment in the educational institutions.

"By this method, about 50 educational institutions have been connected to the educational network via optic channels free of charge so far,” the director said. “As a result of this business model, six schools in Baku, Ganja and Mingachevir were completely exempted from monthly subscription fees for technical support services.”

“Moreover, I believe that we need to be ready for any change and consider other learning models. For example, a school for teachers can be a kind of 'starting point', that is, a teacher, using a high-quality Internet connection and the necessary tools, will be able to conduct online lessons, while the students will stay at home," he concluded.
