IT Park Uzbekistan plans to enter foreign markets

The IT Park provides consulting services so that high-tech startups can quickly develop and create efficient production of high-tech products, Jamila Khalibayeva. head of the creative department of IT Park Uzbekistan told Trend in an interview.

According to the results of the first half of 2020, the volume of services provided by the residents of the IT-Park Academy amounted to 361.4 billion soums ($352 million).

The export volume of IT Park residents amounted to $6.6 million, with 50 export-oriented companies and 20 companies planning to enter foreign markets after testing the product inside Uzbekistan.

Currently, in Uzbekistan, the topic of robotics and engineering in education is beginning to lay its foundation. IT Centers at IT Park Academy are organizing digital education centers, which, among other things, will offer courses in robotics. At the moment, 32 regional training centers out of 188 planned, have been opened.

“This will allow people to reconsider their views on education and methods of earning a living, as well as increase the number of jobs among the population since after one year of study at IT Centers graduates will be able to get a job in one of the local IT companies. Also, graduates will be able to work remotely and take overseas orders for outsourcing,” Khalibayeva emphasized.

Also, to popularize digital technologies among young people, the launch of the republican IT Olympiad "Future Skills" Uzbekistan was announced.

“IT Park is a kind of free economic zone, where its residents are provided with various benefits (tax, customs, etc.), as well as consulting services so that start-up companies in the field of high technologies can quickly develop and create efficient production high technology products,” said Khalibayeva.

Currently, the number of IT Park residents has exceeded 400. The range of developed computer services and the software will be expanded, and their export will increase.

“To increase the growth of promising start-up projects, we incentivize young people by arranging various programs and competitions. At the moment, the fifth cycle of the Startup Initiatives project has started. Furthermore, we cooperate with foreign partners and hold such competitions such as Seedstars World Competition 2020/21, Entrepreneurship World Cup, mGovAward,” Khalibayeva said.

Aiming to create favorable conditions for the further development of IT education in Uzbekistan, Amity University Tashkent was founded in 2019, which is part of the world-famous educational group Amity Education Group, which includes 175,000 students, 6,000 professors, and campuses in the US, UK, UAE, the Netherlands, Singapore, China, South Africa, India, etc.

In November 2019, a large-scale project One Million Uzbek Coders (One Million Programmers) was launched at Inha University in Tashkent. The project offers free distance learning courses in four IT specializations. The project is being implemented by the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan, IT Park, in cooperation with the Dubai Future Foundation, Inha University in Tashkent, IT Academy, and IT School named after Muhammad Al-Khwarizmi.
