BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 10

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Around 150,000-200,000 daily transactions were conducted by Georgians via the Bank of Georgia, as of October 2020, Trend reports via Georgian media.

Mobile and peer-to-peer transfers are leading the remote transactions among Georgians.

The number of mobile app users of Bank of Georgia, one of the leading Georgian banks, already exceeds 1, 5 million. Around 150,000-200,000 daily transactions were conducted via mobile banking apps during Oct 2020. The daily figure varied around 100,000-150,000 as of October 2019, showing over 25 percent growth.

Contrary to mobile bank transactions, the figure stays stable in the case of internet bank transactions.

According to the Bank of Georgia, the average daily number of internet bank transactions was 10,000-15,000 as of October 2020. The data was similar during the same period of the prior year.

The global pandemic accelerated the transition to digital banking, so far a further increase is expected in relation to transections via remote banking services. On its side, the banks are challenged to continue simplification and development of their online services.
