The widespread use of new technologies in all spheres of the public life of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (AR) of Azerbaijan has provided sustainable development and new opportunities for comfort and well-being, Trend reports referring to the Azerbaijani State Statistical Committee.
According to the committee, the successful continuation of the use of information and communication technologies in all sectors of the economy gave impetus to the rapid development of this sphere.
"Recently, the organization of the activities of mobile operators has been changed, the existing automatic telephone exchanges have been replaced with electronic ones, fiber-optic cable lines have been laid, 4G and wireless telephone communications from Naxtel have been introduced, television and radio broadcasting via the Internet. Appropriate equipment has been installed for the use of distance learning," the committee said.
Besides, consistent measures were taken in the field of formation of electronic government in Azerbaijan, systems of electronic registration and interdepartmental electronic document management for citizens' requests were integrated, a structure for issuing electronic signatures to state bodies, citizens, and entrepreneurs was introduced, and active work is underway on ‘Optics to the house’ project.
"In order to update the telecommunications system of the republic, new (fourth generation) automatic telephone communication systems were put into operation, allowing the use of new generation telecommunication services, covering the city of Nakhchivan, Sharur, Babek, Ordubad, Shahbuz and Sadarak districts," added the committee.
