Azerbaijan reveals amount of allocations for ICT sector's dev't in 2020

Some 75.7 million manat ($44.5 million) was allocated to Azerbaijani enterprises to apply innovations in the country’s ICT sector, implement projects, develop infrastructure, modernize and improve the quality of service in 2020, the report of the Cabinet of Ministers for the past year stated, Trend reports on Mar.10.

According to the report, within the implemented projects, 11 new EATS systems (a complex of IT solutions, including those ones in the field of payments, developed specifically for catering facilities) were commissioned.

"Besides, work was carried out to expand the capabilities of 12 automatic telephone exchange stations. The number of Internet ports was increased to 195,800, over 137,000 telephone numbers were registered, 503.7 km of fiber-optic lines and 25 units of various capacities were installed to improve the quality of TV and radio broadcasting," noted the report.

Currently, the number of ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) ports in Baku is 260,100 with a total number of 234,200 subscribers.

In addition, the ability to connect to GPON technology (gigabit passive optical network that meets modern standards) was expanded from 81,900 to 286,700 numbers, and the number of subscribers reached 107,900 (an increase of 28,800 per year).

Along with the foregoing, during 2020, 41 devices for connecting to the LTE network were installed in Baku city and nearby districts. Thus, their total number reached 267.
