The number of devices equipped with an electronic SIM card (eSIM) will approach 3.4 billion by 2025, and the volume of this market will grow by 180 percent, Trend reports citing a report of Juniper Research analysts.

“The eSIM technology allows downloading the profile of several mobile operators to a special smartphone chip with the ability to switch it between numbers. In addition, this technology ensures to remotely upload profile data, and also does not require the purchase of a physical SIM card,” said the analysts.

According to a study by Juniper Research, by 2025, about 94 percent of eSIM connections will be in the consumer sector.

“The introduction of eSIM technology into consumer devices is expected to accelerate support for manufacturers such as Apple and Google. The widespread adoption of this technology today depends on the support of its mobile operators,” the analysts emphasized.
