BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 20

By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:

The Center for the Development of Electronic Government of Azerbaijan is accelerating the digital transformation of the executive authorities of the country's districts, a source in the center told Trend on May 20.

According to the source, a preliminary version of the regional digital government portal was presented, which, along with traditional provision of electronic (online) services, can register citizens' appeals through a chat bot.

Moreover, as the source noted, the project will contribute to bridging the digital inequality between the capital and districts of Azerbaijan and accelerate regional digital transformation.

"For the implementation of the project, which began as part of the formation of digital government in the districts, three socially and economically active territories were selected - Ganja city, Masally and Guba districts,” the source further said. “The selection criteria were geographical location (North, South and West), population and availability of an ASAN service center. After the completion of the project in the three above city and districts, it’s planned to use this model in other territories of Azerbaijan.”

The source emphasized that the digitalization of services of local executive authorities is of great importance not only for the authorities themselves, but also for the residents of a district.

"This will also provide flexible management based on digital data, help improve the quality of service delivery, save time, resources and ensure participation of the citizens in the formation of digital space," stressed the source.
