BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 4

By Klavdiya Romakayeva - Trend:

Uzbekistan and Malaysia agreed to sign a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding on the possibility of creating a digital free trade zone in Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to the Uzbek embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

On June 3, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Kuala Lumpur organized online negotiations between representatives of the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications, the Export Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan, and Malaysian Fusionex Company.

During the event, the Malaysian side expressed interest in implementing projects in Uzbekistan that contribute to the active development of the digitalization of the economy, including by creating a digital free trade zone and ensuring the establishment of an active relationship with well-known world electronic trading platforms that are partners of the enterprise (Amazon, Alibaba, eBay, Lazada and Shopee), based on Malaysian best practices in the field.

It was noted that the development of digital infrastructure in Uzbekistan will contribute to a significant increase in the volume of exports of domestic products to the markets of foreign countries, as well as the use of the republic as a logistics hub for the transportation of international goods.

As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached on signing a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding to consider the possibility of implementing the above investment project between the Ministry of Information Technology, the Export Promotion Agency and the Fusionex Company.

Fusionex is one of Malaysia's leading software companies in the digitalization of trade and service delivery. The company took part in a number of large projects in Malaysia for the development of digital infrastructure, including the development of the country's Digital Free Trade Zone together with the Corporation for the Development of Foreign Trade. The company has experience working with a number of the largest companies in the world, including IBM, Microsoft, IBM, Dell, HP, Cisco, Nintex and Telecom Malaysia.
