More than 1,000 leaders in the field of business and IT are demonstrating growing involvement in digital transformation projects, Trend reports with reference to the results of the global study of the Russian Terrasoft IT company "On the state of the low-code / no-code market" (a universal tool that can solve a wide range of tasks for all business units, including sales, marketing, service, finance and management).

According to the source, the survey respondents were the representatives of various spheres and regions, including Europe, Asia, North and Latin America, Africa, Australia and Oceania (in total more than 90 countries).

"Some 43 percent of respondents think that the main obstacle to the digital transformation is the lack of qualified personnel, 95 percent of those surveyed have continued the digital transformation projects,” the company’s report said.

“Two out of three low-code developers are involved in IT sphere and one is a business user,” the report said. “Only six percent of low-code development is conducted by business users without the involvement of IT professionals.”

“The key advantages of low-code platforms are the quick launch of new solutions and the reduction of costs for the development of corporate software,” the report said. “Some 68 percent of respondents said that managers at all levels support strategic investments in technologies.”

The study showed that the challenges of 2020 further accelerated the digital transformation processes and this is not surprising as many companies were forced to quickly pass to the remote work.

“Beginning from marketing and sales and ending with service and operational tasks, the companies have invested in technologies to ensure the continuity of their processes and customer service,” the report said.

“Obviously, most organizations have also continued their digital transformation this year as they see a connection between successfully implemented IT projects, as well as business sustainability and financial performance,” the report said.

“In fact, every company today is becoming a software company as technologies play an important role in an organization's ability to rapidly transform and grow,” the report said.

“Digital experience has a tremendous impact on customer behavior, so it is possible to say that the new consumption pattern will greatly continue after the COVID-19 pandemic,” the report said.

“Despite the big gap between the demand and supply of skilled IT professionals, the use of low-code platforms together with corporate policies and application development rules will allow the companies to cover the needs for new functionality without increasing the number of programmers,” the report said.

“The abovementioned results demonstrate an increase in team involvement in digital transformation projects, which is a counterexample to what we usually hear about employee attitude towards change,” the report said.

“This once again confirms that an important component of success is the support of innovations and change by the team, as well as by leaders at all levels,” the report said.

“In this concept, the IT department plays an even more important role in the company, being responsible for the overall consistency of the IT infrastructure and overseeing the company's standards for developing corporate software,” the report said.

“Moreover, IT specialists deal with security and administration issues, as well as more complex technological tasks that require appropriate qualifications,” the report said.

In turn, IT industry analyst and opinion leader, CEO of Terrasoft Rebecca Wettemann said that low-code / no-code technologies help any organizations to solve digital transformation challenges by providing business users with tools for automation and innovations.

"It is important to stress that as far as the number of developers expands, the companies should address the issues of administration, IT landscape consistency and coordination of development processes,” Wettemann said. “All these issues, as well as the implementation of more complex technology challenges, will remain in the IT sphere of responsibility,” CEO of Terrasoft said.

Wettemann said that usability, as well as access to training and support, are important to the successful implementation of low-code platforms.

“Moreover, leading vendors are investing in these two spheres, providing a user-friendly interface and versatile training that takes into account the different levels of technical knowledge of business users,” CEO of Terrasoft added.
