REGIONAL MEETING ON MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT OF CIS HUMAN RESOURCES STARTS IN BAKU

A regional meeting on the management and development of human resources of CIS countries started in Baku on Monday, Trend reports.

Organized by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies and the International Telecommunication Union the event brought together the head of the strategic planning and scientific potential of the Communications Ministry Ilham Mardanov, the head of the Human Resources and Law Department of the Communications Ministry, Bakhtiyar Mammadov, the head of the Scientific Potential Sector, Rufat Gulmammadov, representatives from Azerpocta State Enterprise, Aztelekom Production Asocaition, Azercell and Bakcell joint ventures.

In general, 17 delegates from 9 countries were in attendance.

Addressing the gathering Gulmammadov informed the participants on the current state of information-communications technologies, noting that at present the share of this sector in the structure of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is 2.3%, whereas in developed countries it comprises 4-5%.

“$55m was invested in the communications sector only 2003, while in 2003 the figure was $100m, including 82% of foreign investments, he underlined.

A representative of the ITU, Jean-Cloud For, underlined the significance of such events.

Focused on development of and management of human resources in the sphere of the information and communications technologies, exchange of experience in CIS the gathering will be complete on Wednesday.
