Next court hearing on Maltese Fimbank case to take place in November

The next court hearing on the Maltese Fimbank case in Rotterdam which filed a suit against the Azerbaijan’s government on non-payment of the credit, allegedly allocated by the bank to the enterprises of the Ministry of Communications (MCIT) under the guarantees of (MCIT) and the commercial joint stock Postbank will take place on 16 November 2005. Exactly by this date is the Azerbaijani side to produce all documents prepared to the court, proving the state’s non-involvement in the matter, the head of the MCIT’s legal department Bahtiyar Mammadov told Trend

According to him, with the aim of clarification and preparation for the government’s interests legal defense the lawyers have visited recently the state structure.

As not only MCIT, but also the State Oil Fund of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOFAR) are involved in the case all required relevant documents on the both structures had been prepared.

В"Despite the works done, the court procedure may be dragged out again due to the Azerbaijani side’s lawsuit on indemnifying of moral and material damages and Fimbank may be assigned 6 weeks for preparation of the response documents, Mammadov stressed.
