Microsoft officially announces opening of office in Baku

Microsoft Corp officially announced opening of representative office in Baku on Tuesday, Trend reports. Volodymyr Chaykovskyy, the former head of the Ukrainian Office, was appointed General Director of Microsoft Azerbaijan.

According to Chaykovsky, the major targets set in front of the corporation in Azerbaijan are related to expansion of the partner network, providing trainings on the latest technologies for customers and partners, implementation of special programs for development of segments of small and medium-size business, as well as segments of retail.

The goal of the establishment of the representation is to assist in development of the society through progressive technologies, knowledge and experience of the Microsoft in the all world, he underlined.

Sergius Viza, the General Director of Microsoft CIS, mentioned significance of opening of the office in Azerbaijan. We conducted researches to identify the potential of the local IT technologies market prior to opening the office and studied the level of the markets readiness to accept high-tech solutions. Our decision on necessity for Microsoft presence in Azerbaijan had also been supported by the scope of Azerbaijans integration into global process, progressive development dynamics of the country, some projects implemented here by international organizations. The IT market of the countries is not very large as compared with other states, but we caught the dynamics of the development of this sphere. Therefore, we are here, Visa concluded.

The representative of the Microsoft said that in 2006 the representation would invest over $1m.
