The Azerbaijani Ministry of Communication & Information Technology informed Trend on 11 January 2007 that in 2007 Azerbaijan and China intend to sign an intergovernmental agreement with regards to information and communications technology (ICT).
The draft agreement has been developed and coordinated by both parties. The Ministry has stated that it will be signed by the Azerbaijani Minister for Communication & Information Technology, Ali Abbasov, during his visit to China.
Previously Abbasov was invited to visit China by his counterpart to establish closer cooperation in the area of ICT. Azerbaijan and China have a relevant memorandum on mutual understanding in ICT, which was signed during Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's visit to China in March 2005. An intergovernmental agreement will be signed in accordance with the items of the memorandum.
