Azeri Communications Ministry to Create Online Library of IT Editions

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan intends to create an online library of the IT editions. Initiated by the Minister of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan, the work in this respect is carried out by the specialists of the Ministry in co-operation with the IT Institute of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences.

The Director of the IT Institute, Rasim Aliguliyev, informed Trend that the project of the system has been prepared and its platform has been appointed. Earlier the specialists of the IT Institute arrived to Russia to study such kind of systems and the possibilities of adapting it into Azeri language.

It is planned to place the online library of all the books published by local and foreign authors under the topic of information technologies. According to Aliguliyev, the library will function on the base of the web technology in the online regime. The central server of the library will be based at the Communications Ministry. The future plans envisage connecting the books of the higher educational institutions to this server. The teachers and students specialized in ICT sphere will have an access to the library.

The exact principles of its work have not been determined yet. It is intended to establish co-operation with large printing houses to enrich the library and acquire new editions. It is expected that the library will be used free of charge, the Director said.

Work on creating the library are planned to be completed in mid of 2007. The project is directed towards raising the level of knowledge sphere and training high-qualified staff in ICT, Aliguliyev said.
