Rise in Communications Incomes Fixed in Azerbaijan in 2006

Azerbaijan income from the communications sector rose by 24% as compared to 2005. 72.3% of total incomes (572mln manats) fell on private sector. Rashad Nabiyev, the Head of the Finances, Economic Analysis and Registration Department of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies, informed Trend that in 2006 the growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country was 34.5%, while incomes of the communications sector comprised 1.8% of the GDP.

Incomes of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies made up 170.8mln manats. The figure exceeded the last year indicator by 14.mln manats, or 9.3%. Incomes from community payments made up 52.8mln manats against 4.5mln manats (7.7%) last year. In 2006 the Ministry opened 1,800 jobs and the monthly salary rose by 15%.
