Booz Allen Hamilton to Hold a Meeting in Azerbaijan IT Institute

Rasim Aliguliyev, the Director of the IT Institute of the National Academy of Sciences, informed Trend that representatives of the American consulting company, Booz Allen Hamilton will meet the leadership of the Azerbaijan IT Institute, Trend reports.

According to him, during the forthcoming meeting which is expected to be held on January 25, 2007, the parties have plans to discuss the issue on the participation of the Azerbaijan IT Institute in the implementation of the project on the foundation of a regional innovation zone. That will be not the first meeting between the American Consulting Company and the Azerbaijan Institute. The parties earlier met in the beginning of December, 2006. During the meeting between Diana Landau, the Head Advisor of the Azerbaijan Telecommunication and IT Ministry with Dark-Swen Dickman, the Chief of Booz Allen Hamilton Baku Office and Jen Brasvelem, the Director of Booz Allen Hamilton for Azerbaijan, other members of the Scientific Board, candidates, and authors of dissertations of the Azerbaijani Institute took their parts in the meeting. During the meeting, the representatives said that they were deeply interested in the participation in the project on the foundation of a regional innovation zone in Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijan Telecommunication and IT Ministry has officially announced Booz Allen Hamilton as the consultant of the above-mentioned project to be implemented in the country.

According to the project, in April, 2007, the Company will prepare a package of proposals on the foundation of a regional innovation zone to further submit it to the Ministry, which, for its part, will then submit it to the Azerbaijan Government for further consideration.

The project on foundation of a regional innovation zone envisages the installation of technical parks to develop the small-scale and medium-sized innovative entrepreneurship, creation of a regional base for the production and export of electronic appliances and software, the country's turning to an advantageous transit information centre (Data Centre), training and development of human resources to the presently-forming information society, and introduction of IT in other fields of the country.
